• Provided system support and technical direction for Meditech platform, our primary hospital information system supporting 10 acute care hospitals in eastern Massachusetts with a 24x7 operational requirement. The Meditech environment included: - 500+ Windows VMWare guests and physical Dell and HP servers (W2K8-R2 and W2K3-R2) - 167+ TB of storage spread across 3 IBM XIV storage devices - Fiber channel SAN on Brocade switch platform - 42 ESX 4.1 VMWare hosts - Bridgehead backup solution. Provided support for system sizing and installation, capacity planning, performance and tuning, problem determination, preventative and corrective maintenance, backup and recovery, change management, upgrades, and monitoring of all systems. • Served as IT liaison between the systems engineering/infrastructure team and the application support and development teams for Meditech, VisICU, Amalga, PACS, and others. Understood business objectives and identified and implemented technology that met or exceeded business goals. • Designed and implemented a Meditech test environment and build process utilizing the features and capabilities of VMWare and the IBM XIV SAN. This “clone” environment permitted us to iteratively and fully test release upgrades and other significant code changes without impact to our live environment. • Provided consulting services and support for data center infrastructure technology rebuild which included: - discontinuation of most physical servers migrated to a virtual VMWare environment - replacement of EMC DMX SAN and migration of data to IBM XIV storage - upgrade of physical plant (power, generator, UPS, cabling infrastructure, A/C) • Handled all system requirements for the integration of 4 additional hospitals into the Meditech application suite. • Evaluated and provided recommendations on new technologies including Cisco UCS, NetApp, EMC VNX. • Provide 24x7 on-call and backup support to other members of the Systems Engineering team.

This included 370+ Windows HP servers, 60+TB of storage (EMC DMX, HP SANs, EMC Centera, NAS, local server storage) and 5,500+ workstations (W2K and XP) at 6 acute care facilities and numerous physician practices throughout eastern MA. • Provided systems support for enterprise applications including Meditech, McKesson PACS, Heartlab Cardiac Imaging, eClinicalWorks physician practice system, Cerner Copath (pathology), Bluechip printing, Hyland OnBase document management and others. • Evaluated and recommended new technologies to support enterprise wide clinical and business applications. Technologies implemented included: - EMC Centera (content addressable storage) for PACS, cardiac imaging and MS Exchange email archiving - EMC DMX SAN - HP blade servers - HP Systems Insight Manager and Rapid Deployment Pack (Altiris with an HP Logo) - Microsoft Operations Manager and WSUS - High availability solutions such as Windows clustering, NLB, and RAID/RAIN storage solutions. - APC racks and data center environmental monitoring system. • Negotiated and managed various vendor agreements including Microsoft Enterprise Agreement, MS Premier Support, hardware maintenance contracts, HP "Big Deal" product acquisition terms, consulting engagements and EMC DMX operating lease. • Provided input to, justification for and management of capital and operating budgets for all systems related line items. For FY07 this included $726K in capital and $1.4M in operating expenses. • Continued to provide hands-on systems engineering support as technical team lead of the department.
